backflips

Today, my stomach feels as if it is doing backflips. I am in a constant, complete state of nausea. At first, I thought it was just heartburn. No...it's more than just heartburn. Enough about the inner workings of my body.

I think 4 year old and 2 year old minds are the coolest, most confusing, most entertaining things ever. Savannah can sure think of some stuff. The other day, she was asking me if Rick and I got married at Mom's house. I said yes, and she said, "Well, when I'm bigger, then I can marry Daddy, too."
I had to explain to her that that wasn't how it worked. It was super cute, though. And Madeline is so smart. I was playing around yesterday doing a sort of who's who thing with her. I was asking her if she knew who Rick was, Courtney was, etc. And she knew everyone's names. We never really practiced the name thing, but I guess from hearing us call each other by our proper names, she's figured out who is who. It's plain amazing.

*pauses while her stomach does some more backflips*

OK, my stomach isn't giving me a break here. So I'm going to go deal with it...somehow.

What is this?

This is an update.

I promise, from this day forward, to update this blog at least once a week. I was looking back, and I realized that I hardly ever post any updates. In fact, if you haven't already noticed (or if you're even here), this is the first post of 2008, and 2008 is already over halfway through. Eek!

Savannah is 4 now. Madeline is 2. Both are happy, active little girls. I can't think of two sisters who get along any better than they do. They are each other's constant companions. They play together, sleep in the same bed, and they hardly ever fight. They are always giggling and talking to each other. Nighttime is always fun. The girls will stay up and talk and giggle for hours. I'm not kidding. It's like a nightly slumber party. But I couldn't ask for a better relationship between the two of them. It's perfect. And Madeline copies EVERYTHINGt that Savannah says and does. If Savannah goes potty, Madeline follows her and sits on her potty. If Savannah plays with something, Madeline wants to play with it, too. If Savannah says she wants something, Madeline automatically says she wants it, too, even if she doesn't even know what it is.
Rick is still working at Presby Dallas. He stays pretty busy with that, but the days off are so enjoyable.
I got my associate's degree from CCCC. It's just in general studies, but it's a degree. I'm working on my bachelor's degree now. Hopefully, it won't take so long.

Love

Madeline is so peaceful when she's sleeping. She slept through most of our time at the zoo. Just like that.

Ta-Da

Hello, folks. An update. Yes, that's right. I, nearly seven months later, am updating. I am sorry I have neglected you, little blog and loyal readers.

What's happened since I updated?

Savannah turned 3 in February. She's such a big girl now. At least she thinks she is. She tries to be very self-sufficient. She's an intelligent little booger, if I do say so myself. She really loves playing with Madeline, and we also go to playgroup every so often. She's kinda shy there, though. She also loves TV...The Wiggles, Blue's Clues, Barney, Sesame Street, and Noggin are regular things playing on our TV.

Madeline is nearly 17 months old, and to say she is a handful would be an understatement. She gets into everything, she eats everything, and she changes moods at the drop of a pin. But she's very loving and very, very lovable. She's taking a few steps here and there, and we're just waiting for her to really take off. Any day now, I'll be wishing she was still crawling.

We went on vacation to Colorado for two weeks at the end of June/beginning of July It was really nice. Savannah got to see family that she probably didn't remember, and everyone got to meet Madeline. She was a big hit...both of them were big hits. We went to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, and Savannah got to feed a giraffe. Yeah, super cool. We went to the Royal Gorge and Buckskin Joe Frontier Town and Railway. Both were enjoyable experiences. Except for a few stormy days, the weather was perfect. We were glad to escape from the Texas rain for a while.

Anyway, that was a short little update on us, so that you know we are still alive. Will write more later.

Happy New Year!!!

Here we are in a new year. Hope it finds everyone doing well. Here at the Nolan household, we are all doing well. We've all been sick, gotten over being sick, and are now hoping and praying that we don't get sick again for a long time. We all got colds at the same time. I guess that's just a consequene of multiple people living in the same house. If one us gets sick, at least one other person here gets sick.

Christmas was fantastic. Any time with friends and family is wonderful. Of course, Savannah was excited about presents. She couldn't wait for Santa to come and bring her presents. I'll add Christmas pictures soon. Right now, I'm just focusing on getting something on here! The months of suspense are over. Savannah and Madeline were showered with gifts, and the majority were not from Rick and I. Savannah got V-Smile, the educational video game system. She LOVES it. She asks to play it all the time. Madeline seemed more interested in eating the wrapping paper than she did in actually getting a present. But, as I recall, so was Savannah during her first Christmas.

Madeline is crawling! She gets where she wants to go, which nine times out of ten is not somewhere good. It's usually to some miscellaneous wires or small things on the floor. So, we have to always keep an eye on her. She's a fast one! She's learning quickly from her big sister.

The last few months

Well, here we are in October. Yes, I'm finally updating!

July 2006--Rick and I went to see Tim McGraw and Faith Hill in concert at American Airlines Center. It was wonderful. The seats were great, the music was fantastic, and we had a blast. Mom and Mimi kept Savannah and Madeline. Madeline cried for much of the time, but eventually, she went to sleep. Here are a few pictures from that night.

This month Madeline had her first jar of baby food. We discovered that she is a huge fan of applesauce. She ate almost a whole jar.

Sice then, Madeline has avidly tried every new food we've given her. She loves everything.

August 2006: Savannah hit the 2 1/2 year milestone, and Madeline hit the 6 month milestone. We had a little party for her. She enjoyed her first taste of chocolate cake. And she thoroughly enjoyed her new rattle.

Rick had an unexpected surprise party for his 30th birthday. After tons of planning and scheming, the day finally arrived. Mike distracted Rick for a couple of hours while Courtney decorated and cooked like crazy. The guests arrived, after they all parked down the street and around the neighborhood (as to not strike up any suspicion when Rick got home). Rick and Mike arrived. Rick walked in the house, and the shock on his face was apparent when he saw 20+ people all crowded into the living room for him. He was very happy, and the party went great.

Madeline went to her 6 month check up, and all was fine. She was 12 lbs.+.

Courtney's birthday was this month. She turned 24. She had a good birthday. Savannah and Courtney started doing preschool at home this month. Savannah soaks everything in like a sponge. She can spell "apple," recognizes Aa, Bb, and Cc by sight, knows what "hola," "adios," and "bonjour" mean in their respective languages, and is learning many other things.
Madeline is just happy as always.Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

October 2006: Madeline just started babbling using consonant sounds. She likes to say "ba" over and over. And is now saying, "da" and "ga." We have a ways to go before she'll be spouting out words like her big sister, but she'll be a little chattermouth before we know it.

Savannah is learning about Dd, 4, the color green, and some Dd related words in preschool. She moved from the infant class to the preschool class in Bible class on Sundays and Wednesdays, and she's loving her new class.

Courtney is taking Intro. to Business, and just had her first test.

Rick is staying busy at work.

happy girl

This picture is of the girls watching The Wiggles. Their most favorite show in the world. Yes, even Madeline loves it. And she doesn't even know what she's watching.

Madeline is a little blabbermouth now. She's always talking and smiling and laughing. She doesn't cry all the time anymore, and for that we are most thankful.

Savannah has definetly entered the terrible twos. I really think she just gets overly frustrated with things. Hopefully, this stage will pass quickly. And speaking of a blabbermouth...
Savannah comes with me to the pantry now, and when I open the door, she says, "Let's see...hmmm...what do I want to eat?" That little girl is always eating or asking to eat.

Savannah is learning her colors. She knows purple, blue, and yellow. She knows the names of all the other colors, but she isn't associating them with anything yet.

I know this update is short, but both of the girls are demanding attention. Soon, though, I will write more!
